For the upper material of our sneakers we use fabric made of the fibers of the pineapple leaf, which would otherwise end up as an agricultural waste product. So-called Pinafiber, it is the finest of all Philippine hand-woven fabrics and requires the ingenious material to be extracted from the leaves of Spanish red pineapple.
Pineapple fibers have an ivory white color and are naturally shiny. This cloth made from them is soft and fine and has a very low weight. It is also very hard-wearing. Since the PINATEX fabric is hand-made by only a few weavers, it is very precious and rare, which makes it expensive.
