For the inner soles of the Genesis sneakers, the so-called banana leather is processed. Banana fibers are strong and have been used for thousands of years, including on the islands in the South Pacific.
In contrast to most fruit trees, banana trees only bear fruit once and must be felled after harvesting as they multiply themselves from the base. Normally, the trees remain as unwanted waste in the jungle, but with this process, can be salvaged and given new life in the form of paper leather.
